Tuatapere Golf Club’s Centenary – A Celebration of Community

The Tuatapere Golf Club has just marked an incredible milestone—100 years of golf, friendships, and community spirit. Over the past weekend, members, past and present, gathered to celebrate this historic achievement with a series of events that truly showcased what makes this club so special.

The festivities kicked off with the Waitangi Day Hospice Tournament, a fantastic fundraiser that saw an impressive 90 players take to the fairways in support of a great cause. The weekend continued with a social meet-and-greet at the clubhouse, a memorable centenary dinner at Waiau Area School, and of course, plenty of golf!

One of the highlights of the celebrations was the induction of two long-serving members, Wayne ‘Truckie’ Laurie and Nigel Fowle, as Life Members. Between them, they have dedicated over 60 years of volunteer service to the club, a true testament to the spirit and dedication that keeps Tuatapere Golf Club thriving.

The centenary wasn’t just about looking back—it was also about securing the future of golf in Tuatapere. The club is actively welcoming new members of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’ve played for years or never picked up a golf club before, Tuatapere Golf Club is the perfect place to get outdoors, stay active, and meet great people.

They have recently introduced twilight golf, a fantastic, social way to play in the evenings, and thanks to Meridian, they now have a brand-new golf cart to ensure everyone can enjoy a round, even if walking the course is a challenge.
